To keep it useful and safe, we have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive users. By posting, you agree to these guidelines and to our Terms of Service.
What's welcome
- Practical tips on equipment, ports, watchkeeping and rest.
- Routes and routines you're happy to share with the crew.
- Honest questions — no such thing as a stupid one at sea.
- Encouragement, and recognising a shipmate's real achievements.
Not allowed — zero tolerance
- Harassment or bullying — targeting, demeaning, or piling on another person.
- Hate or discrimination by nationality, race, religion, sex, or any protected trait.
- Threats, violence, or self-harm content.
- Sexual or explicit content, and any content involving minors.
- Spam, scams, or misleading promotions.
- Impersonation or misrepresenting your rank or credentials to deceive.
- Illegal content, or sharing someone else's private data without consent.
- Unsafe misinformation presented as fact — the community is peer advice, not official guidance.
Report & block
Every post has a menu to report content and block another user — right in the app. Blocked users disappear from your feed, and reports go to our moderators. If something is urgent or unlawful, email us as well.
How we moderate
We act on reports. Content that's reported enough is hidden automatically pending review, and moderators can remove content, dismiss reports, or — for repeat or serious violations — suspend or ban an account. Removals and bans are logged. Our aim is simple: keep the mess-deck a place you'd want to be.
