These terms govern your use of Seaman App — the mobile application and this website (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
Seaman App is a verified seafarer career-identity and community platform: a watch-day planner, rest-hours logging, a certificate and sea-service record, voyage and bridge tools, crew community features (posts, tips, Q&A, reviews, shared routes), field guides and courses, optional identity verification, and a recruitment marketplace connecting seafarers with manning agencies. It is a planning, record-keeping and career aid. We may add, change, or remove features over time.
You may optionally submit an identity document and a photo of yourself to earn a verified “blue check” on your profile. Submissions are checked automatically and, where needed, reviewed by an authorized reviewer. Verification confirms identity as reasonably as our process allows — it is not a guarantee, and we may revoke a verified status if we later find it was granted in error or in bad faith. You own the content you create — records, posts, tips, Q&A, reviews, routines and routes. By posting to the community you grant other users and us a licence to display and store that content so the feature works, and you confirm you have the right to share it.
You remain responsible for what you post. We may remove content and act on reports under our Community Guidelines; repeat or serious violations can lead to suspension.
Don't misuse the Service. In particular, you agree not to:
Some features are offered as a paid Seaman Pro subscription or as a one-time purchase (such as Navigators Club membership). Pricing, billing period and what's included are shown before you buy, and purchases are processed by the app store (e.g. Google Play), whose terms and refund rules also apply. A subscription renews automatically until cancelled; you can manage or cancel it in your store account, and cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current period. A one-time purchase is not refundable except as required by law or the app store's policy.
Seaman App lets seafarers optionally make parts of their career record discoverable to manning agencies, set job preferences, and apply to postings. Agencies who wish to recruit through the Service must register and be approved. An agency can only see the parts of your record you have explicitly consented to share — medical certificates and identity documents are never shared automatically.
Seaman App facilitates introductions between seafarers and agencies; we are not a party to, and do not guarantee the outcome of, any employment, deployment or manning contract. We do our best to review an agency's licence information before approval, but this is not a guarantee of an agency's legitimacy, conduct, or compliance — exercise your own judgment, and verify an agency independently before entering any agreement with them.
The Service, its software, brand, logo and design are owned by Seaman App and its licensors and are protected by law. These terms don't give you any rights in them beyond using the Service as intended. Third-party and open data used in the app (e.g. OpenStreetMap, OpenSeaMap) remain under their own licences, credited in-app. Per our architecture principle, you own your career data — we are its custodian, not its owner.
The Service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose, and we don't guarantee that any verification, agency approval, or match will be accurate, complete, or lead to any outcome. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Seaman App is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on the app's outputs for navigation, safety-critical decisions, or employment decisions. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (here's how). We may suspend or end access if you break these terms, if a submitted verification document is found fraudulent, or to protect the Service and its users. We may update these terms; if we make material changes we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you in-app. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and disputes are subject to the courts of the Philippines, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections available to you where you live.
