Your data is yours. Seaman App exists to keep a seafarer's career records safe and under the seafarer's own control, in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173) and its IRR.

What we collect

Why we collect it

Solely to provide the app to you: keeping your records in one place, warning you before certificates expire, computing your readiness for a target rank, and — only when you explicitly grant it — showing selected records to an organization you choose.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising.

Who can see it

Nobody, by default. Your records are protected by row-level security in the database itself — not just by the app's screens. An organization can see a record only while an explicit, revocable consent that you granted is active. The app's “Who can see my data” screen lists every grant you have made and lets you revoke each one at any time.

Where it lives

On your device (so the app keeps working at sea, offline) and in our cloud database (Supabase, hosted in Singapore). Certificate scans are stored in a private bucket reachable only through short-lived signed links.

Your rights (RA 10173)

Sensitive actions — consent grants and revocations, deletions, verification decisions — are recorded in an immutable audit log, as the law expects of a responsible personal-information controller.

Data retention

Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your login, records, and files are permanently removed; only the minimal immutable audit entry that a deletion occurred is retained, as required for accountability.
